Protective Mothers - Child Custody Awareness Event 10/05/06
Scheduled for the evening of October 5th, 2006 (to coincide with Domestic Violence Month)You and/or your organization are asked to become a co-sponsor of this national awareness-raising grassroots event focusing on the child custody/child protection problems of battered mothers.
The event will feature segments from two acclaimed documentaries that address the injustices battered mothers face in the family court/divorce court systems:
Small Justice (Garland Waller, producer, www.smalljustice.com) and
Breaking the Silence: Children's Stories (Tatge-Lasseur Productions; www.tatgelasseur.com)
The national showing will consist of one half-hour segment of each of these two documentaries.
As a co-sponsor, you will be listed on the web site and on all publicity materials. Co-sponsors are asked to:
1) sponsor at least one showing in your community on the evening of October 5th, AND
2) publicize the October 5th event widely-- to your local and national network/mailing lists, affiliates, etc.
All materials--publicity flyers, the hour long dvd, and a list of talking points for discussion--will be provided free of charge to all co-sponsors and to those who schedule a showing in their community.
